A Whole new Desktop

The power of Ajax at its best is displayed with the recent release of web based service called AjaxWindows. There are lots of web based services out there and they can be pretty powerful.

However, you can’t really see the changes or feel the effect of AJAX program. In this tool, you’ll immediately see the benefits of having Ajax. I think the name AjaxWindows really fitting as it will remind the users just how powerful the development of Ajax has been to the consumers.

It’s a fairly new service but it will be known throughout the country long before they could think of how to gain revenues from the service.

AjaxWindows is a new product of Michael Robertson - developer of other online services such as MP3.com and Linspire. AjaxWindows has been put under the company name of Ajax13 and the product was just released to the public and we’ll be giving you reviews on how it works.

AjaxWindows is a virtual desktop that you can bring anywhere. It’s a free desktop that you can open in every computer and the settings will still be the same. We can even say that you’re creating a mini computer online. There are a lot of things in a regular computer that an AjaxWindows user cab also do. Online, you can write documents like MS Office.

Instead of elaborate programs, there will only be bookmarks and simple widgets that you can add to your online program. There’s also the functionality that you can change the wallpaper and other images in your desktop. But the best thing about this online program is that you’ll be able to synchronize some of your folders to your online AjaxWindows account. There’s functionality in the online program that you’ll be able to synchronize whenever you want it. In the desktop, just click on synchronize and you’ll be able to point to your folder.

Update and that’s it! AjaxWindows doesn’t have any server on its own any server to store your files. Instead, you have to do it in your own. One of the requirements in order to store files in your online program is a Gmail account. You’re Gmail account will serve as the hard drive for your computer. Because of that, you’ll be able to upload at least 3 gigs worth of documents.

If you’re a business type user, you won’t need any more than 3 gigs after all. But you can upload up to 1 gigabyte of file in the program. That means: movies, music and pictures can be uploaded in a breeze. Even though that it’s using Ajax, there are still some concerns with the bandwidth.

When I started using AjaxWindows, browsing through Gmail seemed really slow. Sometimes, it won’t even load. Maybe it’s just a coincidence that this happened but Gmail is slower that expected. If you’re going to try them out, be sure to get a new Gmail account. You will definitely have a problem in organizing your files once you have started to upload them in your Google account.

For now, it’s on a”hit or miss stage”. You can try it out and have fun using a new Gmail account.
