AJAX-Tips Tutorials
AJAX-TipsAjax is now in Napster
Almost a decade ago, the music industry was shocked with the program called Napster. Created by Shawn Fanning, this software was unofficially the first program to share music online. Even though it was thought to be a program that almost crippled the music industry because of its role in music piracy, legitimizing the software and selling music online was revolutionized by this software.
It’s not as famous as it was but it still sells music and has enough earnings to stand on its feet against the giants of the digital music downloads. As a music store, instead of downloading music directly online, users have to download their software and select the number of songs they want to download. Of course, users have to pay for the downloaded music which can be loaded up anytime.
Although the model was copied by almost any music industry, Napster slowly became only one of the players in this industry. iTunes became the by word for digital music. Because of the popularity of iPods, things really got blurry for Napster.
It’s the thought of bringing music with you has left Napster Squandering for additional features for its customers. There are updates in their software but that’s all that they could do…until now. Just days ago, Napster released its fourth big update.
The Napster 4 is not about the software download, but it’s about the newest addition of services of Napster to its current users. Instead of playing music that you downloaded in your software, you’ll be able to access thousands of music online with their online player.
The 4.0 feature of Napster is very user friendly and it doesn’t need all the brouhaha of installing and configuring things in your computer. Even though the update is not that popular with the internet world, what we’re interested though is the back-end of this update.
This online program uses Ajax technology for better interface. Instead of just clicking on your online software, you’ll be able to drag and drop that music that you would like to listen. You can also set your computer to play popular tracks or the things that you’re really interested. If you’re interested in a group of music, you can set your player to play for hours.
As long as you have internet access, you can enjoy music hour after hour without interruption. Using Ajax, the user can easily understand the interface and interact with the program easily. Since it’s an online software, you don’t need to stay in one computer in order to access the services of Napster.
You can transfer from one computer to another and your configuration will be saved. It will still use the same Ajax technology in different browsers. Napster is hoping that with the use of Ajax, which requires lesser bandwidth, and online connectivity, mobile phone companies will cater to these services. Instead of downloading the software they want, users will just have to access the online version in their mobile phone and play the music they want.
