Ajax’s Impact to the Future

Two years ago, the coding technique called Ajax was introduced to the public giving developers another tool to build great software and websites. What happened after that is one the craziest adaptation for coding language ever. Practically everyone changed their way of thinking on the next big thing on the net and concentrated all their efforts in developing Ajax based software and websites. I really didn’t recall any serious web development tools offered by different internet companies just for one language. There was a time that Java and JavaScript was hot but they are practically developed with out the help of web tool kit. With Ajax, the scenario is different. Because of its complexity, everyone is using toolkits instead of just working on the bareback codes. Every updates in tools and websites are all geared to be Ajax friendly. Even mobile devices are revamped to adapt to this highly interactive, bandwidth friendly coding technique.

Now that the dust has settled, at least by the fact that everyone is already aware of Ajax, we now take a look at the future of internet because of Ajax. Different sites and bloggers have been contemplating on what will happen in the next two years – all because of Ajax.
  1. Web Application = Desktop Experience
Zoho.com and Docs.Google.com and other online office software are in the forefront of this reality. With Ajax providing, near-desktop experience, Web-based applications are now on the rise. Since Ajax doesn’t require that much of a bandwidth, developers are now concentrating on what you can do online rather than using the things in your desktop. Online desktop experience is coming. Using Ajax, more and more tools are transferred online. User experience of desktop will no longer be constricted into what is available in their desktop but also on what is available online.
  1. Smarter Servers
Ajax will not only affect our desktop experience but it will also revolutionize the way developers treat server. This one way traffic of information from the server side will be enhanced further. Aside from processing information from clients, it will also become a “mini-client” as the server will also communicate with fellow servers regarding the changes on the original client’s application or data. It’s creepy but highly convenient since everything will be updated even if we just touch one part of our system. Servers will only be servers; it will become a powerful communication device to its fellow servers.
  1. Mobile Applications
One of my most favorite developments is that in the near future, we will no longer be entangled with our bulky computers. Instead, more and more software will become available in our mobile devices. With the promising changes of the phone each year, it’s hard to imagine why Ajax couldn’t be implemented in these very powerful phones. Since Ajax is not bandwidth hungry, it can be easily implemented in mobile devices who might have limited internet access. With the rise of wireless networks, 3G, EDGE, HSDPA and other wireless network protocols, mobile devices will be the new platform for everything that we do.
