In their quest to give more to their expanding customers, Backbase gave an update to their already powerful Enterprise Ajax coming out with Enterprise Ajax 4. With the release, the latest version of Enterprise Ajax aims to provide these new services to its users. Third Party Widget – before version 4, Enterprise Ajax is only limited to their own widgets. Although there are functionalities that can cater to almost any need of any website, Enterprise Ajax acknowledged the need for the support of widgets that are not native of Backbase. With this latest version, developers can now use other platforms of their own choosing. There are powerful tools that can be used online. Yahoo, Google and Adobe can provide a toolkit that with the hands of qualified individuals; something better and even more powerful could come out. Enterprise Ajax will be able to support these widgets. With wider scope, it will be able to give more than just a simple widgets native of Backbase’s Enterprise Ajax.. Jouk Pleiter, CEO of Bankbase, gave us a good description of this functionality. “Developers can safely focus on developing widgets or applications knowing that the Backbase runtime will automatically take care of browser compatibility issues….It facilitates smart code reuse practices with an architecture based on reusable object oriented patterns and multiple inheritance support. The new Backbase 4 architecture brings structure, performance and productivity to client-side Ajax logic, in the same way as Application Servers have brought structure and productivity to Java application development in the late 1990s. Today, we all use application servers to run our application logic. We will see a similar architecture emerging for client-side Ajax logic.” API Support – Instead of programming an Ajax based program with single API, the latest version of Enterprise Ajax will be able to take on two APIs: XML and Java. Using this two APIs, we will be able to give more than a simple interface. For example, instead of a simple XML, the programmer will be able to extend to Java and give more functionality. Even though the looks will be the only difference, it’s going to give out more since the interface will be more user friendly. All these are possible because of the advancement of the architectural base of the platform. The framework will now be able to adapt to various widgets as it will have multiple inheritance support. This functionality will enable the program to adapt to various widgets as multiple inheritance support will stabilize any codes loaded in its system. Obviously, the highlight of the update is the acceptance of third party widgets. It’s like creating a whole new program and implementing them properly with the use of Enterprise Ajax. As the CTO of Backbase, Gerbert Kaandorp describes the third party option, “The new support for third party components is a significant move toward making the different Ajax technologies work together. The new framework operates as a truly open platform, allowing developers to enrich their applications with the Ajax widgets and components of their choice.”
