Firefox and JavaScript Together in the Future

A few weeks ago, Firefox released their long awaited version 3.0. It was really hyped for months as the beta version has been scrutinized by most tech related blogs. When Firefox was released, it just didn’t crash the servers, it also crashed the record books in terms of user download. The stable 3.0 version of Firefox, fortunately, got the nod not only by users but also be developers worldwide. This browser is slowly becoming a very powerful platform for different applications.

JavaScript on the other hand, is slowly making its way to become 2.0. Although there had been some conflicts in ECMAScript regarding its updated features, JavaScript 2.0 will arrive and will be better than ever. It’s just a matter of asking when it will be released.

These two giants in web and applications development could usher the next level of applications. Because of the almost non-stop updates provided by Firefox to their users, the browser has become a very powerful browser. Developers from all over the world are coming out with different types of plug-ins making Firefox more than just a browser – it has become a stage wherein different types of applications could be integrated.

The importance of Firefox as a platform and JavaScript’s performance could easily be the future because of its online and offline abilities.

The online interaction that could be provided by Firefox to their users is more than just simple browsing with Ajax based applications. Since Firefox could be installed with different plug-ins, additional components could be installed in the browser to enhance the experience of the user.

The need for additional bandwidth is reduced. Added to that feature is the ability to handle XMLHttpRequest of Firefox has long been hailed as the key difference maker of Firefox compared to IE which has very limited plug-in.

The offline capabilities of the browser have also been increasing with the help of JavaScript. There are additional plug-ins that could easily work even when offline in Firefox but their interactivity is not the same as JavaScript. The client-side capabilities of JavaScript can now be integrated to Firefox.

Aside from plug-ins that could move in offline mode, Firefox could also interact with different desktop applications. Since it’s a browser, its behavior is still a browser and with additional components as a plug-in the browser experience will be easily enhanced.

Lastly, the fact that Firefox is an open source browser has paved the way for almost unlimited development. From professional to amateur developers, there are thousands of plug-ins that could be integrated in the browser without any fees.

The ability of Firefox to handle XMLHttpRequest and the capability of JavaScript for desktop and offline mode assures the future of these web giants. The consumers will never feel threatened with this development as Firefox is an open source browser and there are a lot of frameworks to choose from that could assist in the development of different Ajax based applications. There are no losers in this situation and the clear winner above them is the user.
