AJAX-TipsFive Open Source Ajax Revisited
Open source programs that help the propagation for Ajax has been on the rise for months now. From the time the acronym was coined, large and small companies squabble to get their hands to provide the best tool kit in the market. There are those that require a fee but have the assurance of being native to most programs and will run in no time. But it’s more than that if you’re going for open-source. A freely given program that will be modified according to the use of the developer; it provides a challenge to the world of the internet as it offers unlimited expansion that even the creators of the toolkit didn’t though possible. Here are some of the notable tools for Ajax in Open Source:
- Dojo – Sun Microsystems and Java are just some of the companies that can be placed in their already extensive resume. It doesn’t really boast on something particular but it almost caters to all the things a developer needs. As this program is created by some of the most idealistic developers, it offers a great package with animation boxes and tools that will assist any programmer. Adding Dojo to your website is relatively easy compared to other tools. The only downside is the documentation which usually leaves you out on what to do.
- Zimbra – Yahoo may already have purchased Zimbra but that doesn’t mean their open source arm, code named Kabuki, would come with it. The program can easily figure out complex commands as well as the user interface is user friendly through a very powerful editor. But if you’re looking for something rather flashy, this may not be the program for you. For pragmatic developers, you have to appreciate the tools provided are really basic that could make the things go at their own pace.
- Google Web Toolkit (GWT) – I really don’t know why Google chose to stick with Java in contrast with the standard JavaScript requirement. But the program will translate Java into JavaScript. It will be for the developer’s advantage that’s at home with Java. You could even learn a thing or two about the functionality and translate the program in a newer light. But the strength is also its weakness as the translation could be the same as the developer’s expectation. It has also taken the route for the pragmatic developers: functioning without being too flashy.
- Open Rico and Prototype – If you’re looking for a program on Ajax that deals with great animation and more entertainment for the user, then this program is perfect for you. But it has sacrificed its ability to give more practical commands to its users. The main reason for this is compared to other open source projects that are being worked on by developers together, Open Rico and Prototype are created independently. Even with its independent image it doesn’t really go far behind in the race of popular tool kits. The best use of Open Rico is their ability to create those small widgets. Small but entertaining, it’s poised to become a very popular open source program on Ajax.
