AJAX-TipsFlex Released as a Free Software to Universities
Adobe recently announced that it will be releasing the latest version of Flex for free if used for educational purposes. Universities will be able to get a hold of this program without any charge in order for the students to try it out. Using Flex, they can try out creating web applications based on this platform. Even though this platform is on demand outside the universities, students have to learn this technique before they go out. Once they are ready, they will be able to create great web applications using this platform without any problem. This announcement is a part of their support for education. Adobe has been known to support education by providing free softwares for elementary school up to the universities. Flex is a very powerful platform even though it’s very easy to use. The platform lets users create programs using the strong Ajax coding. Flex already comes with tools and library of applications so that they are able to create their own program. Combining these tools is possible because of Ajax. It’s as close as to drag and drop functionality. Flex also comes with different tools. Debuggers and different designs are also available. You can make some changes not only in the function of the program but also use different kinds of looks. With Ajax, no complex coding is needed. The program usually retails at $499.00. It’s obviously expensive for a developmental tool but its being given out for free by Adobe for the universities. If you’re already an accomplished programmer, you have to shell out some money for license. That’s quite unfortunate making you think of going back to the university to try out for the program. It’s a move that will make Flex even more famous for different developers. The program is available in Mac Operating Systems and Windows. Unfortunately, it’s not available in Linux. We want to think that Linux is already stable as it is but unfortunately, Adobe doesn’t think that way. As both Operating Systems that are available for a fee, it also promises to be stable as it is with great support for Flex platform and the programs that it could create. Unfortunately it’s also a common perception that Adobe is not as fond for anything free like what we all want. As a business, they have to earn something to survive. With the popularity of this product, Flex is certainly raking in money as we speak. Since Adobe doesn’t seem to like to have things free, why are they released for free to universities? It’s a very smart move for Adobe. Since these students will be the future programmers, it’s just a perfect move of Adobe to get them all acquainted with the program even before they graduate. They will be able to use the program as they wish without any qualms. Adobe on their end will be able to get the edge of familiarity since they are already being used even before the students go out and become full fledged professionals. It’s a win-win situation for the university students and Flex.
