Future of Mobile Ajax

 Category: AJAX Mobile Add Comment

The mobile devices’ capacity increases every time a new smart phone or pocket pc is released everyday. Although they cannot outpace the speed of any modern laptop, the power is more than enough in mobile devices to run simple tasks such as to read and send email, connect to the internet through WiFi, create and edit documents and even different multi-media functions.

All of these functions were added to what used to be a mobile phone wherein its sole purpose is to call our friends and family.

Access to the internet has also improved for most mobile devices. Instead of using WAP to access different websites for mobile devices, there are pocket browsers that have been scaled down and could be used for pocket devices.

With the presence of these browsers, we can now access Ajax based websites easily. Although it is not as fast our laptops and desktop computers it should be more than enough.

Ajax in browsers however, is a little bit limiting and should never be the way for developers. Developers around the world have acknowledged that Ajax is too big for the browser and something should be done so that it could be easily implemented with all the functions necessary.

That is why the future of mobile Ajax is not really based on the capacity of the browser or the hardware components of the mobile devise. The future of Ajax in mobile devise rests on widgets and native applications in devices.

More widgets for mobile applications are slowly being developed and they are not tweaked for regular computers.

The good thing about this is that instead of being scaled down for mobile devices, the mobile devices are catching up on their hardware capacity. If you are mobile device is more than a year old, you can still use the widgets for Ajax and use the application without any problem.

By installing widgets and other native applications, users will not struggle with connection since the program should never be loaded and use too much connection and bandwidth.

Optimizing connection is the priority of web developers so instead of loading pictures and other eye-candy functions of the online applications, users can easily load the application from their mobile device. The only things that will be loaded from the server to the user are the data for the application.

However the challenge is not on the users but for the application and widget themselves. Since widgets are used only for smaller functions, connecting to the same server every time. The information and the function are limited.

But then again, we should remember that mobile devices are used to complement laptops and desktop computers. Our mobile devices should never be the primary gadget that we have for office productivity.

The future for Ajax in mobile devices does not only rest on browser capacity. Widgets and native applications should be built for different devices so that implementation of Ajax in mobile devices will be easier. By reducing the streamed information to the mobile device, interactivity is better and user experience is beyond expectations.
