AJAX Mobile

It all started with the popularity of iPhone wherein it doesn’t only offer itself as a smart phone, but has become a very powerful web browser. Plus an ingenious marketing ploy by Apple not to allow any software to be installed in their precious iPhone forced their users to go online and use these softwares. For now, more than a millions users of iPhone go online everyday just to use their favorite application. Although in February an SDK (Software Development Kit) will be offered by Apple, we are already hooked with the online applications.
But even before the highly anticipated SDK of iPhone be made available to the public, Google has already come up with an SDK built for mobile phones and not just for the precious iPhone. Google Andriod is a fully functional software development kit that’s simple enough to understand for developers and could be deployed in an instant if enough systems are available for support. As an open-source SDK, it’s almost an instant hit since not all mobile phones in the world are owned by Apple and they are not iPhone. Remember that in Asia and Europe, Nokia is still the king of mobile phones not to mention the cheap rip-offs that coming out in China, and the black market of a fully unlocked iPhones. Software for mobile phones may not be possible for iPhone for the next two months but with Google Android, everything is on its way for mobile technology.
So a software for mobile phone will definitely be here next year. By this month next year, your smart phone will probably be loaded up with so many applications it will definitely rival your laptop in performance and use. But when this rolls out, what next?
Developers agree that after the software for mobile phones, the next addition to our mobile phone that we will be seeing is not another software but a plug in. This is where the role of Ajax in a mobile phone really comes out.
Ajax is already used in most software for mobile phones especially for online applications. iPhone seemed to be the leader in this development and speculations about the SDK of iPhone that it could be really heavy with Ajax codes.
When a software is already in place in a mobile phone, the next best thing that we can do is either an upgrade or a plug-in. Upgrades are normal but when plug-ins are special. There are those that even predict that instead of plug-ins for software, widgets such as Google Gears or Yahoo widgets will be installed to our mobile phones.
I have to agree on this one. Most mobile phones right now are already powerful enough that we can almost add anything. There are already online Ajax applications that are proven to be very effective and it’s just a matter of time before a widget could be integrated into a mobile phone like a desktop.
Ajax will certainly have a hand in developing the next step for mobile phones. Although it’s a code for rocket scientists, most of us are crazy enough to learn this and make our mobile experience better.
