InfiView is one of the Ajax based application offering a highly interactive platform for building maps or charts. The output made with this application could either be presented with the same application or could be integrated in a website.

InfiView is another application built by Bindows – one of the world’s leaders in the development of Ajax based applications for enterprises and business. Instead of developing codes, Bindows is more known to develop Ajax based GUIs which is literally a challenging feat for any Ajax based developers. With Bindows you are literally developing an application that does not need any downloads at all.

Remember that an Ajax based application needs an ActiveX to run properly in IE. But not in InfiView – the outputs of this application leaves an absolutely zero-footprint. No need for a single download from the client side to run the applications that were built by Bindows.

When you are done building an InfiView application in your website, your visitor would just think you just have another nifty web-based application without any Ajax on it. But underneath, you have a very powerful Ajax based application that can literally run over everything the web will throw at – in a browser’s sense of a word.

Aside from being open-source and zero footprint; integration with multiple XML files is possible. Think of your maps – when you place a single XML file which is a map for interaction, you would probably get a good application. But you can add multiple files and place it on top of another map. Because of this, the possibilities are endless – you can place a map and create another file to be placed on top of the map. It could also be a chart and the comments are just placed later.

As much as we like InfiView there are a few difficulties that should be pointed out. First, the documentation of InfiView is less that appealing. Although you will be able to figure out how to work around InfiView eventually, the process of understanding the program should have been faster if the documentation would have been clearer.

Second are the tools in InfiView are not that perfect yet. Some of the XML files could not be read so it is going to be a little bit of a challenge to work them out. I really do not have an idea when will an update come out but we are hoping it will be faster than anticipated.

But generally InfiView is a simple application that has the ability to build an Ajax based outputs that could be easily integrated in any website. Since it is already a GUI, it is easier than expected but we cannot really say that it is user friendly. The documentation might give us a little bit of a challenge but constant use of the application will definitely teach us more than documentation.

If you are looking for an easy application for building charts and integrating maps, InfiView will never disappoint you. This Ajax based application will give more meaning to the maps you built and placed online.
