Better Interaction Design and Web Development with Simple JavaScript Techniques by Book Author – Carl Swedberg & Jonathan Chaffer.

For those looking to enhance their JavaScript Code this book is a must have. Swedberg and Chaffer present a wealth of information in an easy to follow manner, giving their readers the power to make more efficient, streamline, and simpler code. Learn jQuery

Learning jQuery: Better Interaction Design and Web Development with Simple JavaScript Techniques is a wonderful introduction to JQuery framework. The book offers many informative code samples and extremely helpful tutorials about how to make JQuery work for you and how to deal with common issues as well as not so common issues such as; acquiring information with the use of AJAX and manipulating tubular data. From the first page it is easy to see that this book is unlike any other.

This book will aid in taking away some of that fretfully complicated mess and help the reader get a sound start with JavaScript code, serving to reveal techniques that will make the reader’s code much richer as well as much more efficient.

Unlike many in of it’s like this book is designed more for the jQuery beginner. All that the reader need be equipped with is a general knowledge of HTML, CSS, and a firm understanding of the syntax of JavaScript, absolutely no jQuery or framework experience is needed to understand what is being expressed in the book, or to benefit from the information that is brought to light within its pages. That said I must also stress that the book can still be immensely enlightening to those with a great deal more experience with jQuery, it can teach is old pros new and more efficient techniques.

The information provided in this particular book is concise, clear, and essentially easy to understand. Important information is highlighted to ensure that it grabs the reader’s attention and the same strategy is used with helpful tips. The code sample throughout the chapters are formatted well and broken down for easier reading, there are also addition sections of code bolstered. Perhaps one of the most useful as well as unique aspects of learning jQuery is the live examples provided on web sites. I have found that these examples give the reader a better understanding for what the codes really do. The example alone are worth the books weight in gold, they are very high quality and can be applied to various real situations. The examples are also accompanied with screenshots that enrich the information.

The chapters in this particular book are very well documented and provide real examples, which to me was singularly impressive. Seeing the functions presented in Swedberg and Chaffer’s masterpiece at work in real context sold me on Learning JQuery. The book is fantastically interesting; It brings light to tips and functions that even many intermediate jQuery users may have never known, giving benefit to any one who picks up the volume and flips through its crisp pages.

The book gives information to the reader in simple steps, beginning with an introduction to jQuery and its various uses, further into the book, once the reader has a firm grasp on why jQuery is useful in saving time, it continues to break down the functionality in the following chapters. The authors have added detailed yet simple to follow examples which serve to fully explain each function and how it benefits web developers. At this point in the book the reader is feeling more at ease and confident about their jQuery knowledge, giving them the inspiration they need to go forth at dabble with the process, or at least try out a few of the functions to get a feel for how its really done.

Some topics that can be found in this book are explanations of jQuery animations and effects and how to run various effects at the same time, and all the while keeping the reader interested with well documented information and superb examples. The book goes on to explain exactly how to manipulate the document object model or DOM. It covers everything from changing attributes to modifying or adding elements. There are also many other functions revealed in the very same chapter. I sincerely do not think that it is possible for me to actually choose one chapter to be the most enlightening. Each one serves a specific purpose and manages to surpass the reader’s expectations.

Once the reader gets a bit further into the book, the authors add more information, some of the most helpful information I found was in the chapter dealing with table manipulation. This section covers highlighting, paging, sorting, and even zebra striping! Everything is covered in this one area, and to make it even better they authors continue to dazzle the reader with helpful and useful examples they are quickly becoming known for. Even the most seasoned developers are sure to find some type of tip, shortcut, or alternative processes for making their websites in this and other chapters.

Once the book is finished the information still flows. Swedberg and Chaffer filled the back with a wealth of information accessible through internet resources and development tools, giving the reader the opportunity and means to continue furthering their experience and knowledge of jQuery. All around Learning jQuery: Better Interaction Design and Web Development with Simple JavaScript Techniques is a must have for newbie developers and seasoned professionals.

The information, the steps, the examples, and the tips that covers nearly every page are unrivaled those that came before them. Swedberg and Chaffer have out done themselves with this new and much needed book. In my opinion no other jQuery volume can reach as broad an audience with as much an impact as this. I cannot stress enough how much this book with change your outlook and deepen your understanding of jQuery.
