AJAX-ToolsNiceform: the Answer to Dull Webform
Bored with your current webforms? Try niceform. Basically this script will let developers build a good Ajax based web forms in their website. You can basically say goodbye to old looking comments page and web forms as this web form is a little bit challenging to configure but it will work wonders when efficiently coded.
Niceform was developed by Lucian Slatineanu and his website, badboy.ro provides a very smart example on how Niceform would actually look like in a website. Basically, what you will have is a better looking web form since it was sprinkled with a little bit of Ajax in its coding.
The theory behind this web development lies in the simplicity of the webform. Any webform coded for today’s use is very small. The buttons, text areas and other things found in the web forum will never have a large space in web development. Because of that size, developers could just hide these buttons in a DOM tree without fear of having to code too much. When the actual application is hidden, its time to built the Ajax web form and in this case, the script is called Niceform to emphasize the developers efforts as well as his well-working scripts.
After we have hidden the tools that should have been used in the website, it is time to add the script so that Niceform could be launched. The first thing that you have to remember in using Niceform is that it is an actual replacement of the previous webform that you have posted. Without it, Niceform will not function since it will not represent anything.
You can say that the beauty of Niceform still depends on your original webform. Having said that, activating Niceform is quite easy, at least in writing.
We go back to the DOM tree where everything has to be represented by another script. But that does not mean you can still stick with the same format just because it has followed the same format from either its framework or manual coding. You are actually referring only to a function instead of the whole code. That means you are free to build from the scratch any look of the new webform that you prefer. But that does not end there. Niceform will be representing the functions of the original application while ensuring that the communication between the client and the server are only limited to the function being used. It uses JavaScript to enable this type of application – that what makes it an Ajax based application.
The latest version of the script was November of 2007. It is a fairly new script and still needs some work. As of this writing this script is still being developed for browsers below IE6 and based on the development of the application, Mozilla browsers below the 2.0 version and current versions of other browsers such as Opera. But even with that concern, Niceform is a great script to be integrated in any website. With creativity developers should be able to build a good looking and interactive Ajax based webform.
