AJAX-TipsOffline Ajax
The
development of Ajax isn’t just another developers dream come true. It’s a true user-centric development; the internet world has come to embrace. Even though there is still much to be debated on the proper development of the technique, it’s a common knowledge that Ajax is the thing of the future because of the interactivity that it ca give to the users. Its greatest feat so far would be its ability to communicate effectively with the user without the need of constantly communicating to the internet. It reduces bandwidth requirement nearly next to nothing. If you have a high speed internet, this wouldn’t be a problem; Ajax is in the pal of your hands waiting to be used extensively.
There’s already much praise Ajax already experienced. However, all the online tools that we can use and see online makes us think: all these things are only good when we are online.
For people whose life revolves around the internet, that’s not problem at all. All our life we either face the computer online and if we’re not, we could just end our life because of the lack of connectivity. Office applications could mean nothing if we can’t synch it to our online program – all of them Ajax based program. Everything will just work if we are online.
The need to create an offline tool is thus created. Of course, even before we posted the problem. Someone out there has already though of it and have the capability to create a tool in answer of those problems. Fortunately, it’s not the person that has thought of the answer but a company – specifically Sun Microsystems. The creator of Java has thought of this concern and has now created another tool kit that can be embedded on other tools. Called the Apache Derby, its set to add a simple application on the creating online programs of Ajax based systems. The end result: an offline Ajax based application. You don’t need to be a techie to appreciate that. With the things that you can do online, it could even mean better applications when you can even use them offline. Imagine an offline version of your favorite Ajax tools.
At first people are really skeptical about the ability of the project. Until today, most of the projects that we see launched are all online projects. But small developers appreciate the function of this software. Instead of creating hard online programs for their clients, they are now able to create a simple program that can be run on computers that are not directly connected to the internet.
We may have thought these programs could go on offline in our computer after we purchase a very expensive download. But thankfully, Apache Derby has made things really easy for web developers to create and web developers to download. Even though the effect of Apache Derby is only known through the eyes of a web developer and programmers. The fact that it could make office productivity better is already a plus point for the development of Ajax.
