Pyjamas

Pyjamas 0.3, a port of Google's Web Toolkit (GWT) to Python, has been released.
Pyjamas comprises a stand-alone python-to-javascript compiler and an AJAX Widget Toolkit that makes development of Web applications much more like Desktop development (pyqt4, pygtk2, python-wxWidgets).

Developing web applications for Pyjamas is in fact so startlingly similar to desktop development that a sister project has been created - Pyjamas-Desktop (see http://pyjd.org for details).  So, applications that conform to the Pyjamas Widget API can in fact run - unmodified - on both the desktop and in every major browser.  That makes Pyjamas the world's first free software python cross-browser, cross-platform, cross-desktop API.

Pyjamas' underlying AJAX library, which supports Firefox, Mozilla/Netscape, IE6, IE7, Opera and Safari, takes care of all the usual AJAX tricks that you'd expect to have to deal with, with the added bonus that the only time that you ever need to know that the code is running in javascript is when you need to debug your application.
