Sun JavaFX Unleashed

After years and years of waiting, Sun has finally unleashed their RIA counterpart, JavaFX. Touted as Java's answer to Ajax, Silverlight and FLEX, JavaFX will be able to build powerful applications that should also assure seamless flow data and interface.

Before Ajax, Sun was the giant in RIA because of their Java. Developers will be able to build RIA with the help of Java and launch them online without any problem. But unlike JavaScript, and much the same with Flash, users have to download a client before any of these is possible.

Yes, the application should be able to provide RIA but they still need Java and Flash in their local gadgets. It used to a little bit inconvenient but because of the improvement of technology, it's not really a bother at all.

Today computers and laptops could download Flash and Java without too much effort and almost any computer today could launch an Java application.

Adobe has already released their RIA through FLEX and AIR. Just like its predecessors, the application is actually geared in developing online applications that are eye-candy with "more teeth." Instead of developing simple games and interactive flash, FLEX and AIR could now answer the demands of business by offering secured online applications.

Java on the other hand is a little bit slower in building their RIA development language. Flex and even Silverlight from Microsoft are now on a stage of adopting as they have already learned a lot from their users on what's wrong and what's not to do in their RIA.

JavaFX however are in an advantage today for two reasons. The first reason is on the possibility that they might bypass the learning stage. Since Ajax was released, Sun was just observing as to how things are planning out.

They now know what and what to do in their programming language. The second and more significant advantage is their mobile phone feature. Although Ajax has been very powerful in different gadgets, it is not able to penetrate the mobile phone industry.

Before Ajax, Java is already in the mobile phones. Powerful applications could be easily launched in a very small mobile phone because of the presence of Java.

This is very good news to everyone since now, RIA will not only be experienced in laptops and computers it's now coming with the help of JavaFX.

Developers could launch JavaFX in mobile phones as applications will be released as Java API - small enough to be interpreted by simplest gadgets with Java.

But still, it goes without saying that Sun will still pain the pangs of adjustment. Although they are one of the leaders in software development, they still have to adopt to any feedbacks and complaints from its developers.

Even Microsoft, through their Silverlight has to go through this challenges and they are now adopting to different feedbacks. The key to Sun's success in JavaFX is on how fast will they able to learn the feedbacks from different developers and immediately implement the changes for a better and advanced JavaFX.
