TIBCO Wins!

In the recent 2007 InfoWorld Bossie Awards, TIBCO emerged as the winner in the category for the Ajax based open-source web toolkit. The Bossie Awards is in its first year to award the best internet and computer related companies who have displayed exceptional change and products. The awards are only for the open-source products as they foster development through collaboration and ease of price. TIBCO’s open source tool kit for Ajax is has become the winner in its first year.

TIBOC has bested other open source tool kits such as Google, Microsoft Corporation, Spry and other open source web toolkits. Notice that the names are not just any names; TIBCO has bested some of the billion-dollar web development companies. InfoWorld has created a test center that carefully considered the best in the industries.

TIBCO, according to their chief tester Tom Yager has “This gold standard among Ajax toolkits is unexpected generosity from a middleware titan. It is unquestionably worth charging for, and yet it's not only free, its open sourced under the extraordinarily liberal BSD license.”

TIBCO got the nod of InfoWorld because of its ability to create programs that are very user friendly. When launched, there is no need for the client to have some pre-installed software to let the web based program run. Aside from this ideal, there are also additional benefits such removing the need to have what used to be really important Java, ActiveX and other online applications.

Instead, TIBCO has made steps that all the information and the program will not run through the client’s side but placing all the things in the server side. As long as someone has a broadband connection, the program will run smoothly. Instead of depending too much in the preinstalled programs, a person just needs a strong connection.

As of this writing, almost everyone has a broadband connection. There’s no stopping on what we can do with Ajax fully implemented.

Jeff Kristick, Vice President for Product Marketing shared the secret of the success of TIBCO and gratefulness with the award. “We saw tremendous potential in TIBCO General Interface back before Ajax even became vernacular to the developer community...To ensure its wide-spread industry adoption and success we wanted to remove all barriers to access and open sourcing the software seemed like the best approach.

The recent ten-fold increase in downloads for TIBCO General Interface and numerous accolades in the past year continue to reinforce that we made the right decision. We are honored to have been named a Bossie Award winner.” Even though InfoWorld is in its initial stage, the reputation of the award is already accepted.

InfoWorld has been in the world of technology for many years and it has become one of the leading voices in print media with regards to technological advancement. For sure, next year’s competition will be fiercer as various companies compete to get this award. Even though there is no price money (at least that’s what we think) the mere fact that you have stood out among the giants is a great way to be noticed.
