FrameworksThere are lots of frameworks that have been created for Ajax and other web development techniques that are geared for better user interface. These frameworks promise better functionality, speed in processing and not to mention better looking interfaces – all of these are possible without even learning a single line of coding.
Frameworks such as GWT, DWR and other frameworks even offer an experience of building Ajax based application without the use of JavaScript. Even without an extensive knowledge of this application, developers are finding themselves building an Ajax based application. All of these are possible because of the increasing number of frameworks geared for good looking websites and application.
On the other hand, as much as we see frameworks geared for better user experience of the interface, most of us have left out the database part of the application. We have good looking websites but data fetching is still a challenge for most developers. The usage of XML and JSON is already a given fact that we have to learn about it, but it could be simplified so that the system could work faster.
If your website or application is data intensive, you will have trouble establishing an Ajax based application because there is not much of a framework for data related applications available for developers for use. There are other database frameworks that we could use such as Dojo and YUI, but they all seemed too heavy especially for a simple website or application.
Fortunately, a developer by the name of Ian Smith has thought of this problem which led him to the creation of a database framework called Taffy DB. This database framework was built with JavaScript as its central language. That means Ajax based developer could easily use them in their intended application.
Taffy DB even goes beyond the idea of using it with the coding of the application as the framework also has the ability to be integrated with other popular user interface frameworks. It is also OS agnostic so it can run in practically any system.
One of the mean features of this framework is its size. Taffy DB is less than 10k in total size – although a very small framework by size, it goes beyond simple functionality. The framework offers full function covering not only common commands of data fetching but the complicated ones as well. These functions could either be used as a standalone or could be used together with other functions.
The efficiency of the framework comes from the fact that it offers a straightforward command to any functions that you need. Developers could easily remember these commands and easily use them in their system. This idea has also made Taffy DB a very lightweight framework since it doesn’t require too much coding from the developers.
Taffy DB is an open-source framework available at their website. It offers simple documentation and is really simple to understand. It is simple, small and very efficient for small and also large scale Ajax based application.
