Things Everyone Needs to Know about Ajax

Whether you’re a developer a business owner or just anyone who’s interested in the development in Ajax, here are some things you need to know before you need to go forward. There are so many things that have been said and done about Ajax but if you want to start, here are some things you have to know.

  1. Browser based Ajax is a lot harder than you think – I’ve see a lot of programs that are web-based and the start-ups are always the ones that are slowest. There are so many reasons why are they very slow, but they can be traced to the fact that they are doing so much about the program, the browser couldn’t easily handle it. If you’re interested in creating an Ajax based program, be prepared to take it very slow. Simple JavaScript should always be considered and give it a little bit of colorful deviation through HTML. One great sample? Google’s Gmail.
    .
  2. Ajax programmers are special kind of people – it’s really hard to admit this but not all people can honestly say they are really good in Ajax. It’s just been here for almost three years and luckily for those who know JavaScript, they can just move forward. But it’s even rarer to see developers who can actually move forward to XML and other types of integration. For business owners, be prepared to spend a little bit more for web development.
    .
  3. In SDLC, Ajax still works – for developers, don’t be intimidated by Ajax. Although talent is scare, there are now people who are taking time to learn this language. To ensure that you’re developing the right software, it’s always best to use an SDLC methodology. SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) will always dictate and ensure that you are creating the right software. Personally, you can use RAD (Rapid Application Development) so that you can always create a prototype but expect to spend more time in developing this type of software.
    .
  4. Select one tool and stick to it – with the advent of OpenAjax Alliance, we all know that Ajax has been “formalized” among different Ajax toolkits. This ensures you can create a Mashup combining different toolkits. However, it’s still advisable to stick to the first tool. This ensures that your program is very easy to be configured and repaired. As we have indicated previously, its Ajax will always work at its best when they are simply rendered. Mash-ups are great but you have to ensure you are working with different developers to ensure they work well.
    .
  5. Ajax is not everything about the internet – HTML, Java, Flash and other languages are still there. Although we are going to the path where Ajax dictates us, other languages should still be considered and studied. One of the reasons why Ajax developers are so rare is that they have to know practically about everything about the internet, the language and the hardware. So if you’re still planning to learn programming, start with the basics and move slowly to Ajax.
