Travel Sites on Ajax

There are thousands of travel sites and blogs that you can check out today. Forums will tell you where to go, what to do, what to expect or even a little word of caution about the place. These travel sites could either be user generated or a travel site that has taken steps in looking at some of the places of interest in a certain city.

These sites are just simple click and go sites but there are sites right now that use the Ajax technology to give the users a better experience of the location even before they arrive there. Let’s take a look at four sites that have this functionality. They are not rated according to their popularity but we’ll take a look at their functionality related to Ajax.

Wayfaring.com – This website combines the powerful functionality of googlemaps to the user’s experience. After creating an account, get a map where you can point out which places in your area that are worth visiting. No you are not paid to do that but it’s your contribution to the internet society.  You’ll have reviews on your bookmarks and mostly it’s appreciating on what you write.

Triporama.com – the website fascinates and disappoints me at the same time. Its website navigation is superb since Ajax will not let wait for minutes on what you need to know. Its dropdown menu basically covers everything what you will see in the website. That’s where the disappointment comes in, the dropdown menu doesn’t really have much. That means you won’t have much either. There’s no search functionality and you’ll be limited to their trip plans, not yours. They already have these set of plans that you can purchase but it doesn’t give you any chance to be creative with your travel plans. They should apply more functions on this site. They are already in a good design – they just have to add functions.

Travelpost.com – Exploring the site makes me feel that the only thing that has Ajax on it is the menu and the title function. If you think this is a bad thing, think again. The menus are basically your gateway to all the information you need about a certain hotel. Any hotel around the world is reviewed under the website.

Remember that these reviews are from the customers of the hotel so they could either be really brutal or appreciative with their experience of a certain hotel. If you have an account, you can also share a thing or two about the hotel that you’ve been.

Weefly.com – this travel site is dedicated in giving you the best rates in airline tickets. It’s still on its beta version so it’s not really expected to give the results that you wanted. But the good thing about the website is its interactivity. It honest enough to list only the countries they can find flights. You just select on a country and you’ll be presented with choices of cities and after selecting a city, you’ll be presented with a list of airports. Unfortunately, the list is very limited but the functionality is worth noting.
