When it was released Visual Studio comes in with the .Net 3.5 and it can only be run using this framework. The problem comes when running other programs that are not ready yet with the 3.5 update. Microsoft just opted to release an update to continue the support for Visual Studio 2008.
At the same time, Microsoft Corporation has also updated the version 3.5 so that it could work better with Visual Studio 2008. Although it’s not a very popular framework yet, together with Visual Studio 2008, it has features that look very promising.
Aside from better compatibility of with different .Net Frameworks, Visual Studio 2008 will now be working with XAML. This language is being used by Windows Presentation Foundation. It’s a graphical language that will give more graphical interaction in the website or programs created.
Microsoft is confident with this update since it will also be launching, together with this update a better Ajax configuration is also released. It will be able to handle more complex requests. The .Net Framework 3.5 has also been updated to work with the new Ajax capabilities of the program. Since Visual Studio is a stunning program when run properly, it’s a shame if it will not work properly because of its heavy graphics. With Ajax, it should somehow work well.
Using this beefed up Ajax version of Visual Studio, another update is coming up. This time, users of visual studio will have more functions to add to their website as they will be releasing a version that will accept gadgets from other websites or programs. Through the Popfly Mashup tool, different gadgets or widgets will now be installed and run in their websites. With the mashup tool now available for more gadgets, it’s even possible that a program will be released that offer different types of gears without anything from Visual Studio, except for its ability to launch different gears. Coding or embedding gadgets is really easy in the first place but it’s the way it will be released that makes the difference. Ajax will enable the tool to be launched and instead of giving burden to users’ computers to launch different types of programs, it’s now in the hands of the server to give them better services.
Lastly, an update in Visual Studio 2008 will now enable collaboration. Different users can now synch projects and work on them at the same time.
The release will be available for download this month followed by the PopFly Mashup tool. It’s not just months away, but it’s literally weeks away from this latest offering of Visual Studio. It’s not really a hyped program but it can certainly do wonders for web developers who want more from their Visual Studio.
