Not very long. The big thing is to remember your doctypes and to close your tags as well as to use CSS instead of formatting tags. If you know HTML there isn't much to learn about XHTML, except that it is more strict.

Hello.xHTML is actually very simple. I learned myself by looking at sources, and validating them from the w3 website. (http://validator.w3.org) and pasting my source, then fixing the mistakes. And yes, I do believe that xHTML just gives that professional/experienced cutting edge to make people think "Hey, this person is good!" and to make their minds go completely into mystery as to why we web programmers do such things. Here is a good website to help you on xHTML:http://www.w3schools.comIt took me about a week of dedication to actually learn it and I exercise with it quite a lot.
