Can I set a minimum for the left position property in CSS?

I have a three column page and I have each column's width set by a percentage. Also, I have a minimum width for each column set by using min-width. Each column has a left property which I set by a percentage according to it's previous columns (if the first column has width 15% then the second column has left position 15% and if the second column has width 55% then the third column has left position 55%+15% = 70% etc.) The problem is that left positions are a percentage so it keeps on decreasing even when the minimum widths of all three columns are reached. This causes the three columns to overlap when the screen is resized below 800 pixels. So, can I set up the three columns so that the position of the columns stop changing when the minimum widths are reached? In other words (this will completely solve the problem), can I set a minimum for the left property? I don't mind using javascript-- I just need a solution.

you can have a "conatiner" div and set its position.Other than that, not sure if you can do anything.
