Many of web-based RIA frameworks are still evolving and are in the early stages of adoption in enterprise-level business applications. Enterprise solutions need more than asynchronous methods as AJAX suggests, they primarily need APIs which provides synchronous and real-time responses to user actions just like 4GL tools.
