Validation With AJAX

do you think its important to have a completely validated page when using ajax, I think it is as you need to reference something a lot of things in the pages (by id, by name) and with too many elements with the same function (two elements with the same id's it can really mess up your id structure).

valid to what, XHTML 1.1, 1.0 or HTML 4.01, and do you also validate your CSS as well?

yep XHTML 1.1 and sometimes I workon my CSS but not always
