XML with DTD validating?

I've created an XML file and an accompanying DTD file. I've already dragged it in IE and there appears to be no errors. But i want to appreciate the usefulness of the DTD file so i modified it expecting the browser xml parser to throw an error but it didnt. Its as if the DTD file is useless.

How do i go about verifying my XML file is valid for the accompanying DTD?

** I've already seen sites that verify the XML and DTD as completely sepearate entities as opposed to a single unit, which is useless for me. Im looking for sites or ways to verify the XML through the accompanying DTD, so if there is an error in the XML as defined by the DTD then i want to see the error.
