Overuse Of AJAX?

Anyone think that some sites are taking the AJAX implementation a bit too far?, there are quite a number of websites with forums made completely out of AJAX with no page refesh's that's all well and good but what's wrong with the original style of programming a board, don't get me wrong, im not saying that some AJAX websites arn't all good, you have these fantastic services like meebo and gmail which work perfectly as websites

it's just web 2 craze.... it's good in only few instances... using ajax on complete site may not be good ...

using AJAX may be good for few parts of the site.. I would not make the entire site using AJAX... if you have a selfservice system for customers.. I would make it completly AJAX driven to provide best user experiance...

people say websites made completly out of AJAX will fail but I dont see meebo failing, infact they have so much VC funding its unbeliveable.
