error in calling action class from ajax and how to filter data

have a jsp page where each field has a button associated with it. on click to that button a child window opens up and it shows a dynamic table which consists data fetched from the database based on the name of the field(textbox).

flow of my project is:
jsp->struts(action class)->ejb(bean class)->action class-> result(jsp page)
i want to integrate ajax with it.

now what i wish to do is apply the filter property on the child window.
when the user enters any text then onkeypress a fuction retrieveURL() gets called from where action class is being called.

the problems i am facing are:
1. on executing the action claas i not getting recognized. the error it shows is invalid action path.
2. my 2nd problem is how will i post the data which i retained in a 2d array corresponding to the text entered by the user on the jsp.

can anyone please help me solve this problem. i don't want to use any frameworks with it, just want to integrate with existing struts application
