AJAX is short for "Asynchronous JavaScript and XML" and the reason its so popular is because it is Asynchronous in it's purest form it's able to send and receive info from these sources XML, HTML, and text. AJAX is a great technology it can greatly improve the net. some quick faqs.

Thanks for the "technicial answer" isnt it really so popular with its ability, to well "update" show things on pages without having to refresh?..

Unfortunatly, we arent all as smart as you
So, i will explain what Asynchronous means. I had to look it up so thought id post it to save some other members the time.
Asynchronous:
1. not occurring at the same time.
2. (of a computer or other electrical machine) having each operation started only after the preceding operation is completed.
3. Computers, Telecommunications. of or pertaining to operation without the use of fixed time intervals

And if you all did know this and i am the only dumb person then please disregard this reply
