web service WDSL to check domain avaliblity?

I am looking for a wsdl or similar service that i can use to query TLD names to see if they are registered.Really i want to send a request passing over a domain name and the responce will come back as xml and tell me if it is registered or not.if i can get information back about the regiter, if the doamin is registered, then thats a bonus but not essential.any ideas?P.S i am not talking about using the home page of go daddy to enter a domain name and see if it is registered i building my own front end for that
